It’s that time of year again. Get out your credit cards and tissue and be prepared to shed a few tears. I’ve scoured the internet, (Shoutout to AdWeek) and have found eight international holiday ads that will get you in the necessary holiday spirit you are looking for. ’Tis the season of giving and ad agency creatives giving us their best stuff.
M&M’s — Faint2: A Very Yellow Sequel
M&M’s is back with a sequel to it’s iconic Christmas ad. And this year it’s even better than the original.
Air New Zealand — A Very Merry Mistake
Country: New Zealand
Not only do you learn about the quirky nature of New Zealand’s language/accent, they tie in their brand (Air New Zealand) brilliantly.
Intermarché — J’ai Tant Rêvé
Nothing will make you laugh harder than when the boy hands a puzzled Pere Noel fruits and veggies purchased at one of France’s most popular grocery store chains. And it’s in French!
Penny — The Path
Penny is a grocery store chain in Germany. This ad is a bit somber than I would expect from a holiday commercial, but the ending wraps the ad up brilliantly, reminding us of the importance of loved ones at this time of year. This is the English version but was originally aired in Germany.
John Lewis — Moz the Monster
John Lewis is known for having the best holiday ads, and this one is no different. In fact, their holiday ads are so well known (and well done), Marketing Week published an article about the reactions to their holiday ad featuring British marketing leaders.
Diesel — Say No to Uncool Wool
I was skeptical at first, but Diesel’s holiday ad had me cracking up. Plus, sheep do need pants.
David Jones — Now It Feels Like Christmas
This ad from the Australian department store company, David Jones, encompasses everything about the holidays in one delicious gingerbread cookie. Er, um, commercial.
